When we told friends and family that we were going to live on a boat, most of them asked the same questions. Below are the answers, along with a few comments about the experience so far.

Q. Are you taking the kids?

A. Yes. Our son is in first grade and our daughter is pre-K, and they are being "boat-schooled" this year. Some of our favorite moments have been seeing the world through their eyes, especially the wildlife.

Q. How will you eat?

A. We only eat fresh fish caught on the boat... Just kidding! We actually haven't caught anything worth eating (yet). In the States, we often stayed at marinas and could walk or take an Uber to the grocery store. In the Bahamas, we take the dinghy to town and walk to the nearest market. But shopping in the Bahamas can be hit or miss, so we often have to eat whatever is in stock. This is more of an issue for the kids -- although we finally found chicken nuggets!

Q. Isn't that dangerous?

A. Statistics suggest that recreational boating is safer than driving a car. Bad things can happen to anyone anywhere, but we do our best to make boat life as safe (or safer) than land life.
